Note: Multi-mic recording is not yet available on the Android version of the Audigo Studio app. Our team is working on adding this feature, and we expect it to be available soon.
Overview
You can connect up to four Audigo mics directly to a single iOS device and record with them all simultaneously. Our patented multi-sync technology ensures your recordings are accurately aligned. Each microphone captures a separate audio track into a single project that you can then mix and edit directly in the app. A video captured with the app at the same time is automatically synced with the audio mix.
Getting Started
Add mics by tapping the icon in the upper right corner of the app, then tap the
button in the upper right on the Mics screen.
For the best performance, be sure to follow the steps for connecting your mics to your home Wi-Fi network (you can access your Wi-Fi networks by tapping the icon in the upper left and selecting “Manage Wi-Fi Networks”). Name your mics by tapping the
to the far right of the mic listing and selecting “Rename” (Tip: For different recording sessions you can change the names of the mics as needed, ie: guitar, vocal, etc.). You can identify a mic at any time by triggering the light to flash; just tap the
to the far right of the mic listing and select “Identify”. If using a friend’s mic, put it in pairing mode to connect to your phone by holding down the power button for 5-10 seconds until the blue light comes on.
Mic Setup
Position the front of each mic as close as possible to the sound source that it’s recording. To avoid phasing (recorded sounds interfering with each other), follow the “3-to-1 Rule” when using multiple mics: make sure that the distance between each mic is at least three times as much as the distance between each mic and the sound source that it’s recording. So if you have 3 mics, 3 feet away from each other, make sure they are at most 1 ft away from their respective sound sources. Consider using an additional mic further away from the sound sources to record the room for a more full sounding recording. Do a soundcheck for each mic prior to recording by tapping the Soundcheck option. Adjust the level so it will stay in the green for the entire recording.
Mixing
Once you’ve made your recording, name your tracks or apply unique two-character tags to identify them before you start mixing. Enter the Edit screen, then tap the track numbers in the track selector bar near the top of the screen and select “Edit Track Name”.
The solo feature can be helpful for hearing each track in isolation to identify it. If you have recorded multiple players or instruments, try setting them up in the mix left to right as they are placed in real life to increase separation for a more natural sound. Adjust the reverb, EQ, stereo width and other effects of each track individually (Tip: Don’t go overboard on stereo width - by default, multi-mic recordings start with a 0% stereo width).
Sharing/Exporting
You can share/export your projects from the in the bottom right. Use the “Project” option to get a .zip file of each of the audio and video tracks as individual .wav and .mov files.
